Craft Cartel cupids to deliver 500 hand-decorated valentines to bikes around the city to encourage bicycle breeding

Win beautiful prizes!

Radical Crafters at Melbourne Craft Cartel, in conjunction with Bicycle Film Festival, present bicycle mating project: Bike Love

Melbourne Craft Cartel have responded to alarming reports that bikes are being scared out of their city habitat by more agressive four-wheelers with a project aimed at increasing the bicycle population. While bikes are not currently faced with extinction, we believe it's very important that their numbers are not allowed to shrink too much or in-breeding will become a problem  - The bikes of tomorrow will end up looking like penny farthings with inverted pendulums and spoon brakes. NOBODY wants this.

To encourage hot bikes to get it on and procreate, the Craft Cartel crew will be attaching 500 hand decorated valentines to bikes around the city - each valentine links a bike to its perfect match. If the owners find each other before or during the upcoming Melbourne Bicycle Film Festival and bring a photo of the happy couple (or even better come together) to the BFF street party, they will have a chance to win beautiful prizes .

Bike mating cards can be collected from:

Bebida (325 Smith st, Fitzroy) OR

Radio Bar (79 Gertrude st Fizroy) OR
Concorde Crepes (GPO Complex Cnr Elizabeth & Little Bourke Melbourne CBD)

If your bicycle is really desperate for some action (nothing to be ashamed of) it might be best not to wait around for our cupids... get in touch.

Massive thanks to the wonderful Hamish O'Neil, Melisa Gray-Ward, Matt Babe, Erin Tasmania, Nathan Patten, Cate Lawrence, Maurice Manno, Chris Chinchilla, Sonya Everard and Lou Klerks.
